Sarasota County delivers some of the most consistently excellent inshore fishing on Florida's Gulf Coast, anchored by Sarasota Bay, Little Sarasota Bay, and a chain of productive barrier island passes. Big Pass and New Pass are natural funnels where Snook, Tarpon, and Spanish Mackerel stage on every tide change. The grass flats of Sarasota Bay and Roberts Bay hold Redfish and Spotted Seatrout year-round, with the best trout fishing concentrated around the sand-grass transition zones in 2–4 feet of water. Siesta Key's crystal-clear flats are perfect for sight-fishing Redfish with a fly rod or light spinning tackle. Casey Key and Blackburn Bay offer more remote backcountry fishing with less pressure. Venice Inlet is a hidden gem for spring Tarpon — resident fish hold in the inlet all season and are accessible from shore or small boat.
