20 fishing spots · Florida
Manatee County is one of Tampa Bay's most underrated fishing destinations, offering productive inshore flats, protected backcountry, and easy offshore access. Terra Ceia Aquatic Preserve is a crown jewel — a shallow, grass-covered bay that holds resident Redfish and Spotted Seatrout in excellent numbers year-round. The Manatee River and its tributaries provide a sheltered Snook fishery with boat traffic far lighter than the more popular Hillsborough Bay spots. The grass flats south of Bradenton toward Longboat Pass rival anything in the county, and Port Manatee's spoil islands hold structure-loving fish like Sheepshead and Mangrove Snapper. Passage Key at the mouth of Tampa Bay is a productive stop for Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, and Pompano in spring and fall.
